The TC191 began with a specific question: how much of a flagship 4×5 view camera’s movement system could be brought into a mini view camera for digital photography?
Compact technical cameras bring the control of a view camera to modern camera bodies and digital backs. Our aim was to extend that control: to develop a compact system with the full range of technical movements we sought from a flagship large-format camera, including independent whole-standard tilt at both ends.

Beyond tilting the lens and camera
Ordinary lens and camera tilt changes the orientation of those components. The TC191 adds a separate ±20° whole-standard tilt to the front and rear movement assemblies. The shift mechanisms incline with the assemblies, allowing movement along the tilted frame rather than only along the original horizontal and vertical axes.
The distinction matters most at the camera end. After focus has been established using the Scheimpflug principle, rear shift within the inclined sensor plane allows the composition to be refined while preserving that plane. With the lens fixed and the sensor plane unchanged, reframing does not require a new focus setting. Lens coverage and mechanical clearance still determine the usable movement.
Control that remains separate
Whole-standard tilt complements, rather than replaces, the individual tilt, swing, horizontal shift and rise-and-fall controls. Each adjustment has a defined mechanical role. This separation lets the photographer set focus, perspective and framing in a considered sequence.
A lead-screw focusing rail, graduated controls and a rear interface with quick 90° rotation support that process. The intent is not to make every photograph more complicated. It is to keep the necessary adjustment available when the subject demands it.
A camera within a system
The TC191 accepts interchangeable bellows, camera adapters and lens boards. Photographers can configure it around compatible mirrorless or SLR bodies, medium-format cameras and digital backs, as well as large-format and selected medium-format lenses. Existing lenses on compatible square boards can also be used through board adapters.
For architecture, landscape and commercial still life, this means a working system can be built around the subject and the equipment already in use. Compatibility must be checked as a complete combination: camera, lens, bellows, adapter and required focusing distance.
The TC191 edition
The MicoMova TC191 Full-Movement Mini View Camera is a limited edition available exclusively through the MicoMova website. It expresses a clear design objective: bring a fuller movement system into the digital mini view camera, with particular attention to what happens after tilt has established focus.
