LS001 Micrometer-Style Macro Positioning Rail

Description

The LS001 moves the camera along a screw-driven rail for close-up focusing and manual focus-stacking sequences. Its 120 mm travel provides room to position the camera and refine focus.

Rapid adjustment and fine control come together in one blue dial. Unfold the crank to approach focus quickly, then turn the knurled rim for fine adjustments. The screw advances 1 mm per revolution; 100 dial divisions provide 0.01 mm travel per division. With the crank folded away, the dial retains its complete outer profile and uninterrupted knurled grip.

The self-locking screw holds position when adjustment stops, without a separate locking step. A copper and PTFE composite sliding structure, thrust ball bearings and a graphite-containing copper bushing provide maintenance-free lubrication, with no additional oil or grease required in normal use.

The upper quick-release clamp can be removed and reinstalled at 90° to accommodate the different mounting orientations of camera L-brackets and lens tripod-collar plates. Plates must be compatible with the clamp’s Arca-type profile.

The Arca-type base slides within a compatible clamp to balance the complete setup, independently of the upper carriage’s screw-driven focusing travel. A 1/4-inch mounting thread provides an additional mounting option. The LS001 supports loads up to 10 kg in horizontal, inclined and vertical use. A 60 mm quick-release plate, hex key and spare screws are included.

Macro focus stacking

Move the camera in small steps to capture a sequence with different areas in focus, then combine the images in post-processing for greater depth of field. The LS001 provides 0.01 mm of travel per dial division, giving a clear reference for small positioning steps in macro stacking sequences. The rail provides manual positioning control. Choose the step size to suit magnification and depth of field so that the sharp regions overlap between frames. Image capture and stacking are performed separately.
