HM4 Dual-Axis Micrometer Macro Positioning Stage

Description

The HM4 combines two micrometer stages at 90° for independent front-to-back and side-to-side movement. Refine shooting distance along one axis and adjust subject placement along the other.

Small steps for macro focus stacking

Each axis provides 25 mm of travel for local positioning and framing around small subjects. The micrometer advances 0.5 mm per revolution, with 0.01 mm travel per division as a reference for manual stepping. Move the camera in steps to capture different areas in focus, then combine the images in post-processing for greater depth of field. Choose the step size to suit magnification and depth of field, keeping the subject and other adjustments stable throughout the sequence.

Crossed-roller guidance and bidirectional drive

Both axes use crossed-roller guides, with positive mechanical drive for both forward and reverse movement rather than spring return. The mechanism is adjusted during assembly to minimize reversal play. It holds position when the micrometer stops, without a separate locking step. Lubrication is maintenance-free, with no additional oil or grease required in normal use.

Flexible mounting in a compact body

The upper Arca-type clamp can be removed and reinstalled at 90° to accommodate compatible camera L-brackets and lens tripod-collar plates. An Arca-type base and 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch mounting threads connect to compatible tripod heads and supports.

The HM4 supports loads up to 10 kg in horizontal and vertical use. It is 58 mm high and weighs 640 g, excluding the quick-release plate. A quick-release plate, hex key and spare screws are included.
