DP5 Dual-Stage Micrometer Macro Positioning Rail

Description

The DP5 separates camera positioning from fine stepping. Use the lower rail to reach the approximate shooting position, then advance the upper micrometer stage in small steps to capture images for focus stacking in post-processing.

Two stages, distinct roles

The lower rail provides 120 mm of travel, with a 4 mm screw lead and 0.04 mm travel per division. Unfold the crank for rapid movement or turn the knurled rim for fine adjustment. The folded crank preserves the dial’s complete profile and grip. Lock the lower rail after positioning before using the fine stage.

The upper stage provides 25 mm of travel. Its micrometer advances 0.5 mm per revolution, with 0.01 mm travel per division. The smaller lead gives finer movement for each turn, helping control the steps in a stacking sequence. Choose the step size to suit magnification and depth of field.

Crossed-roller guidance, positive drive in both directions

The fine stage uses crossed-roller guides and mechanically drives both forward and reverse movement, without relying on a return spring. It holds position when the micrometer stops, with no separate locking step. The mechanism is adjusted during assembly for fine positioning and direction changes. Lubrication is maintenance-free, with no additional oil or grease required in normal use.

Mounting and configurations

Both stages move along the same axis in the standard version. A configuration with the two travel directions at 90° is available by custom order. The upper Arca-type clamp can be removed and reinstalled at 90° to accommodate compatible camera L-brackets and lens tripod-collar plates.

The DP5 supports loads up to 10 kg in horizontal and vertical use. A quick-release plate, hex key and spare screws are included.
